Learn to the basics of crafting poems of all types through discussion and workshop.

Tuesdays, Nov. 7, 14, 2023, 7:00 p.m. CST, Virtual Class

How do you write a poem? Where do you start? How do you know when you're finished? What tools and traditions can you draw on, and what creative decisions need to be made in order to go from an inspiring idea to a written work of literary art?

Poet and professor Timothy E. G. Bartel leads writers in the practical basics of the poem-writing process. Along the way, attendees will draft and edit their own poems. Limited enrollment ensures lively discussion and individual attention to questions from students. This is the perfect class for beginners, or those poets who wish to refresh their vision of writing poetry.

Timothy E. G. Bartel serves as Professor of Great Texts and Writing at Saint Constantine College. His poems have appeared in many periodicals, including First Things, Christianity and Literature, Saint Katherine Review, and Windhover Journal. His latest book of poems is A Crown for Abba Moses: New and Selected Poems (Solum Literary Press, 2023).
